Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that our manufacturing and production processes are performing with high efficiency. They will identify areas for improvement, implements process changes, and collaborate with individuals to ensure a positive working environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will mentor and guide their team along the way.

Classification: At-will; Exempt; Salaried
Reports To: Vice President, Operations
Location: Pasadena, CA
Work Environment: Office/Lab
Citizenship Requirement: Motiv Space Systems, Inc. positions require access to defense articles, equipment, technical information or service that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Work Schedule: Standard 40-hour work week (some overtime may be required)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish manufacturing specifications for feasibility and scalability
  • Work with main stakeholders in the completion of PFMEA, PPAP and quality inspections; and optimize processes for manufacturing
  • Push electronic modules through at our facility
  • Proactively identify high-risk areas in production and engineering design cycle
  • Work with contractors and vendors to perform DFM analysis and optimize at all levels
  • Identify root causes, track issues, and work with Design Engineers on necessary design changes through the production process

Essential Job Functions/Core Competencies

  • A blend of Engineering and Manufacturing, you’ll be at the forefront of the production process
  • Interface with professional associations, suppliers, IPTs, and internal customers to develop robust manufacturing processes
  • Provide guidance to direct reports and develop their skills

Education, Experience, and Training

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering of electronic modules
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering design and change control
  • Proven experience tracking the progress of multiple projects
  • Experience with production capacity analysis (installed vs planned capacity, OEE, etc)
  • Experience in the Failure Analysis of Electronic Modules
  • Forward Thinking – Providing inputs on new or alternative and improved manufacturing methods
  • Ability to lead and sustain manufacturing process to high standards
  • Ability to travel as needed to CM locations
  • Ability to work and communicate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong team player, drive to exceed expectations and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and create clarity, oversee multiple projects, and make them better
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
