Job Description

The Electro-Mechanical Technician will support electro-mechanical assembly, integration and test activities at Motiv Space Systems, Inc. The Electro-Mechanical Technician also:

  • Independently perform verifications and documents results in a clear, precise and complete manner.
  • Validate parts lists for avionics/electronics hardware.
  • Assist with the development of production processes for first time production runs.
  • Have excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
  • Use a computer to record work performed on electronic work instructions and use email (MS Outlook).
  • Think creatively and independently while following documentation and maintaining prescribed quality standards.

 

Classification: At-will; Exempt; Salaried
Reports To: Vice President, Operations
Location: Pasadena, CA
Work Environment: Office/Lab
Citizenship Requirement: Motiv Space Systems, Inc. positions require access to defense articles, equipment, technical information or service that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by ITAR, 22 CFR 120.15, 8 USC 1101(a)(20), and 8 USC 1324b(a)(3).
Work Schedule: Standard 40-hour work week (some overtime may be required)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mechanical / electrical assembly of PCB assemblies
  • Building of electrical sub-assemblies
  • Wire harnessing
  • Soldering and desoldering of through hole and SMT components
  • Supporting conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating
  • Supporting all mechanical assembly and integration
  • Supporting functional testing on flight and non-flight hardware

Requirements

  • Read, interpret and work from free form drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes.
  • Independently fabricate first article harness assemblies and/or fabricating electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Independently perform verifications and documents results in a clear, precise and complete manner.
  • Validate parts lists for avionics/electronics hardware.
  • Assist with the development of production processes for first time production runs.
  • Have excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
  • Use a computer to record work performed on electronic work instructions and use email (MS Outlook).
  • Think creatively and independently while following documentation and maintaining prescribed quality standards.

Education, Experience, and Training

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
  • High school diploma or GED required (Associates degree is desired)
  • Experience with performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices
  • Experience with mechanical hand tools
  • Demonstrated experience fabricating harness and electro-mechanical assemblies and prototype development.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to read, interpret and follow: 1) schematics, engineering drawings, circuit layouts, and parts lists; 2) cable harnesses (wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts lists); 3) mechanical assemblies (mechanical drawings and parts lists).
  • Proficient with computers and the ability to use MS office
  • Current or past certification for NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-610 or equivalent
  • Clean room experience is preferred
