Job Description

The EEE Component Engineer will work with other team members and/or customers as the single point-of-contact for all EEE parts/components engineers on all Motiv Space System space flight projects. The EEE Component Engineer also:

  • Interfaces with manufacturer’s to obtain and discuss data needed to evaluate the part for approval and ongoing approval maintenance
  • Generates procurement requests for the acquisition of Motiv’s EEE Parts required for its projects
  • Maintains knowledge of inventory for Motiv’s EEE parts
  • Maintains knowledge of GIDEP alerts in accordance with project needs
  • Interfaces with customer component engineers throughout life-cycle of Motiv projects

Work Schedule: Standard 40-hour work week

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads EEE Parts management and procurement for flight projects.
  • Evaluates qualification data, reliability data, and process control data to ensure that parts used in Motiv projects are reliable, effective, and suitable for the application.
  • Gives part selection, screening, qualification, and guidance to design engineers.
  • Develops and presents approval rationale and reliability risk assessments to Motiv customers.
  • Reviews and evaluates manufacturer submitted Level 3 Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs) for effectiveness and completeness to address the necessary reliability testing and failure mechanisms for EEE parts.
  • Interfaces with manufacturer’s to obtain and discuss data needed to evaluate the part for approval and ongoing approval maintenance.
  • Generates procurement requests for the acquisition of Motiv’s EEE Parts required for its projects.
  • Maintains knowledge of inventory for Motiv’s EEE parts.
  • Maintains knowledge of GIDEP alerts in accordance with project needs.
  • Interfaces with customer component engineers throughout life-cycle of Motiv projects.

Requirements

  • Experience with space grade, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) grade and/or automotive grade EEE parts.
  • Experience with accelerated reliability testing, reliability math, physics of failure, failure analysis, destructive physical analysis, and EEE part specific failure modes and mechanisms.
  • Experience with GSFC EEE-INST-002 Parts Screening Standard
  • Experience with JEDEC, AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101, and AEC-Q200 industry standards, and PPAPs (DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, Cpk data, etc.).
  • Experience with EEE manufacturer auditing
  • Experience with product development, pre-production activity, and product life cycle.
  • Work on bid and proposal teams
  • Collaborate with other engineers and/or organizations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Education, Experience, and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, reliability engineering, or other technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience with device qualification and test methods
  • Excellent writing, documentation, and presentation skills
